Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred

It’s fitting that I would first review 30 day shred.  At this point it is an oldie but goodie in my dvd repertoire.  30 day shred was probably my first experience with a fitness dvd that left me feeling really worked out!

Jillian combines light weights with cardio and abdominal moves which are timed and short.  There are three segments which are each 20 minutes in duration and get progressively harder.  I suppose you could do all 3 but I would recommend starting at level one and progressing as your body is able.

She does a great job of handling what I call exercise ADD .  What you are doing is always changing so as your body is challenged you are constantly moving onto something new and never bored.  This is the first dvd I would recommend to anyone looking to do some circuit training at home.  It’s quick and dirty and you will work up a sweat.

There are some modifications for beginning exercisers but if you are a true beginner I still recommend this disk.  Just be prepared that if a move proves too advanced to just do some good ol side to side touches until you are ready to pick up the next one.

Jillian also does the nice touch of telling you how proud she is of you at the end.  And if you are like me, you will sit still and soak that in; because baby- that routine is no joke!
