Losing weight isn’t all that.

There are lots of effective ways to lose weight. Many of them are faster than what I propose which is learning to prepare healthy foods and exercise. But losing weight alone isnt all that. To illustrate this Ive come up with two lists with the benefits of losing weight any ol way vs. eating healthy and exercise. As always you will make your own choices but at least consider the following:

  • More energy throughout the day
  • Better sleep
  • Increased libido
  • Reduced risk of disease/premature death
  • More self-confidence
  • Clearerskin
  • Shinier hair
  • A healthy glow
  • Longer/stronger nails
  • Better sex
  • Overall strength improvements
  • Everyday tasks are easier
  • Improved brain function/concentration/memory
  • No more afternoon energy crashes
  • Improved flexibility
  • Longer endurance
  • No more overwhelming cravings
  • Stronger immune system
  • More stable mood
  • Better coping skills for difficult times
  • Less depression
  • Improved quality of life

The thing is; buying that first pair of smaller pants is awesome. I dont want to take away from that. It feels good. In your mind the dressing room is a geek to chic episode of Jenny Jones and all your ex boyfriends are there to apologize. Something like Im so sorry I was mean to you, I had no idea you were really so hot. (Ive never heard of this moment actually happening in real life but Ill keep you posted). Its a great day, and you can get there faster with a crash diet than you can with eating clean and exercising. But you will also be depriving yourself which might make you kind of grouchy. But who cares right? You can be Bitchy McNewPants. Other pesky news-the moment Bitchy McNewPantsgives in and goes back to her old habits, all of the weight will return as quickly as it left and be back to square one. Probably even grouchier.

When you take the gradual approach to weight loss, learning about food choices and how they affectthe body- exercising in a way that is challenging and fits into your lifestyle the results are lasting. The effects, while including new pants are much more rewarding than just the one shopping trip. And you get all of that without the nasty side effect of constantly being hungry and pissed off. Just sayin.
